D23: The ultimate Disney fan event

The calm after the storm

It's been some time after D23 was held in Anaheim at the convention center. After taking some time, I feel we have all had the right amount of time to process all the big changes. For those who haven't heard, I'm here to bring you the official Disney news coming to theatres!

D23 is the ultimate Disney fan event. Fans come from literally all over the world to meet in one Disney world and feel at home. At this event, they have collectiables for purchase, panels to see, and amazing cosplay costumes to get heart eyes over. This was my second D23 convention and was just as fun as the last one! I'm going to be explaining my personal D23 experience and all the fun things I saw! With this being a huge Disney convention that only happens in Anaheim once every two years, it's bound to get busy.

We got to the convention center around 4 am and were the very last ones in line for the Live Action Panel. This Panel is the biggest ones at the entire convention. They talk about all the upcoming movies Disney is planning to release in the upcoming years. It's also the panel that has all the celebrities and sneak peeks! One of the movies we learned about was the Mary Poppins sequel which is going to pick up right where Julie Andrews left it off! Emily Blunt who is playing Mary Poppins made an apperance as well as Rob Marshall, the director of the film. They showed us an exclusive sneak peek that Emily hadn't even seen herself. It honestly even brought me to tears as Mary Poppins is one of my personal favorite Disney movies. Along with Emily joins Meryl Streep, Dick Van Dyke, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, just to name a few! I am beyond excited for this sequel and know it will be almost as amazing as the first. Mary Poppins Returns comes to theatres Christmas 2018. Another movie we heard about was A Wrinkle In Time (Oprah!!?? YOU GET A MOVIE!) which releases in 2018. Based off the classic book, Disney brings it to life with an amazing cast!

Let's jump into the live remake movies now, shall we? DUMBO, ALADDIN, AND LION KING, just to name a few. Disney has been catching onto the hype it's been receiving by turning its animated classics into live action movies. Dumbo is currently in the works as we speak and is being directed by Tim Burton so I truly think this movie is in great hands. Aladdin finally announced it's cast which includes Mena Massoud as Aladdin, Naomi Scott as Jasmine, and Will Smith taking on the beloved role of Genie! The production is being directed by Guy Ritchie. The one I've been waiting for, The Lion King, was announced to us by complete surprise. I had no idea Disney had been hiding this up there sleeve. They showed us a little sneak at the upcoming movie and it brought me to tears. I can't wait for you guys to see it! Also, you probably already knew this because Dwayne Johnson already confirmed it, but yes, Jungle Cruise is happening! Are they gonna make him a Disney legend anytime soon?

Of course they talked about the new Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi, and had the cast come out. Most goers were expecting Star Wars to hold over the entire panel sort of like the last D23 in 2015, but this year that wasn't the case. This is director Rian Johnson's first time directing a movie and the cast had amazing things to say about him. I am so excited for this film. Unfortunately they didn't tell us anything we haven't heard or show us anything we haven't seen, so I'm just going to remind you that Star Wars: The Last Jedi comes to the movies December 15th, 2017. Anyone else ready to admire Daddy Ren again?

Now to the super fun part. I am a huge Marvel fan, thanks to Michael. Marvel has announced that they are planning a super huge movie with all the Avengers, and we got a first EXCLUSIVE look which truly set a big stage in the Marvel Cineamatic Universe. A massive group of the MCU took the stage at D23 before the trailer, including Robert Downey JR., Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Benedict Cumberbach and Tom Holland. The crowd was insane, it was so loud in Hall D23 that I couldn't hear my own thoughts. Kevin Feige was very excited to announce that next year in 2018 it's going to be Marvel's 10 year anniversary and said they have some very amazing things coming from the studio, be on the look out! I don't want to spoil the amazing trailer we saw in the hall so I'm just gonna let YouTube handle that one for me. Avengers: Infinity War reached the halfway mark, so we are half way there to a kick ass new movie!

That's all I got for the new and upcoming Disney movies. Which one are you most excited about!? I can't wait for all of these amazing movies to be released and see their success!
